31 Days of Rock was last night. It’s an event where a whole bunch of people put their names in a box and then the names are randomly drawn in groups of 4-5. Nine bands were formed and at the end of 31 days, they were scheduled to play a set at the Farside.
Four bands made it to the end, although one of the “bands” was a solo act.
I pretended to know how to play keyboard for Sagan’s Youth: a pop-punk space opera project. Our group got along really well and I’m glad I met the three guys in my band.
The story behind our punk opera involves robots losing faith in humanity and sending the entire population to the sun. Through a shakey pun involving a “punk rock,” we divert the ship and take back Mars. It was a lot of fun, although a little stressful since I was shifted to work at the bakery that night and had to play on my dinner break. I think we embodied the spirit of 31 Days of Rock, though.
Also, credit for the picture above goes to Rosie. She made me look handsome and capable of playing keys.
