Three shows past and done
Great shows this past week. Monday was a Gorgeous show with Street Eaters at Casa de la Chihuahua (or something like that). It’s a new house show space with bands playing in a garage out back. The garage reminds me of some overly masculine getaway from some ’90s sitcom: a place you’d hide from the wife and watch the football game with your boys while drinking cheap beer on cheap couches. It was a great show. People were going crazy and hanging from the rafters during our set.
Wednesday was a For the Hell of It show. Considering it was the same night as Paul Baribeau and Salt Altars, as well as some other hardcore band I have never heard of but seemed to be popular, it went really well. Nona played the show and they blew me away. Our set went really smooth until I messed up the last song. It was still awesome, though. Just wish it had been on a different day because I think a lot of people would have loved it.
Last night, Friday, was another Gorgeous show at The Farside with Rvivr, Future Virgins and Zippers to Nowhere (2/3 of This Bike is a Pipebomb!). Future Virgins and Zippers to Nowhere stayed at my house and they were all super nice and funny. I tried to not be all fanboy. It’s strange hanging out with people whom you’ve bene listening to, singing along to, air guitaring and air drumming along to for the past five years.
The Gorgeous set went well. My singer dressed as Hunter S. Thompson, my bassist as Baberham Lincoln and I put on a sheet for the first song as a ghost. My singer threw candy at people and they dodged all the hard pieces.
“Look alive people!”
Hysteria (made up of my drummer from For the Hell of It, singer from Gorgeous and two other girls) had a great first show. They are very riot grrl and very awesome. I’m still humming their songs.
I work tonight. It’s been probably a week and a half since I had a full day off. Getting tired.
